This innovative project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ program and promotes an effective green transition of schools across Europe. The ESSA is the first ever school Awards for sustainability in Europe. It is an exciting opportunity for secondary schools to present on a European platform the practices that make their school sustainable and environmentally friendly. Both experienced and less experienced schools are welcome to apply. The twelve schools showcasing the best sustainable practices will be invited to take part in the ESSA International Summit. It is a one week event in North Macedonia to celebrate local initiatives solving environmental challenges.
The European Sustainable Schools Awards Summit was held in Skopje, North Macedonia, bringing together over 50 students, teachers, and educators from 12 innovative schools across Europe.
The Summit was the culmination of the ESSA project — a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and commitment to sustainability in school education. Participants showcased their green initiatives, exchanged best practices, and took part in interactive workshops focused on climate action, biodiversity, eco-innovation, and intercultural learning.
Beyond presentations, the event fostered deep connections between young changemakers and educators who are shaping the future of Europe’s schools. The atmosphere was vibrant, empowering, and forward-looking.
Thanks to the efforts of Together For Success, SUGS Nikola Karev, IROKO, and Arteteka, the Summit was not just a final event — it was a powerful reminder that schools can lead the green transition, one student at a time.
